Up until the early 1900's this area of Florida was still covered with free-range cattle. As the state became more populated, and the prospect cattle wandering around became less practical, many people started turning to citrus. The Dennison family was part of this move. They helped the original owners of this land, the Levines, plant and cultivate this grove in the 1920's. The grove has passed through many hands since then. When we took over in the early 90's, it had fallen into a sad state. Vines were growing over the trees. Three-foot wide oak trees were growing amongst the citrus. And many of the vintage trees were in danger of dying. At the suggestion of some fellow growers, we enlisted the help of Les Dennison and his family. It was the start of a long relationship. Today we are working together to preserve the trees we have and plant new ones from vintage stock. We hope that we can share this amazing fruit with you for years to come!
Cee Bee's is actually a collection of groves owned by the Burchenal family. We started with one small grove, where we developed our love for vintage fruit. As time went on, we had the opportunity to acquire other small neighboring groves that had also cultivated vintage trees. Today we have approximately 300 acres growing 14 varieties of citrus. What makes this grove so special? The layout of the land ensures a perfect growing climate. The vintage trees provide a unique crop. Combine that with our family's commitment to the finest varieties and the Dennison family's experience in growing it, and you get a very special result.
